We offer professional tuition to all ages, ability and experience. Although structured, lesson plans are individually designed, based on each student’s requirements.

Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced and teach to an exam level. Although examination participation isn’t compulsory, students wishing to undertake exams are supported and encouraged by their teacher.

Lessons are held 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday and are 30 minutes each. The cost per lesson is $40.00. We offer a special price of $35.00 per lesson when paying for four or more lessons at a time. Tuition payment is payable prior to the lesson.

The instruments we currently teach are guitar, bass, piano, drums and saxophone. Singing and violin to come in 2020!

Our Tutors

Matt Foudoulis

Guitar & Bass

Matt has been teaching at Ivanhoe Music for 7 years, catering to all ages and skill levels. Playing guitar for over 15 years, Matt also works as a freelance guitarist, performing both nationwide and internationally with various artists and bands including former contestants from The Voice and Australian Idol. Matt has performed at many major festivals and events including Beyond The Valley and the recent New Years Eve main set at Federation Square. He has also produced and released dance music on Australian and International records labels, where his songs have amassed over 1.5 million streams.

He holds a Bachelor of applied music (performance) from Box Hill Institute, studying under many of Melbourne’s top musicians.

Jon Morrison

Piano & Drums

Born in Canada, Jon is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music who began his career in 1998, at the age of ten. He is proficient in many styles of music, and plays many instruments to a high degree. Most recently, he has completed his AMEB Grade 8 certification, and is currently preparing for his AmusA. Jon tailors his lessons to suit each student’s needs, skill set, and musical tastes. He enjoys preparing students for exams, but believes first and foremost in fostering a love of music- regardless of genre. Lastly, Jon believes in developing the musician as a whole, starting with proper technique, and a strong foundation in music theory. Wherever you are in your musical development, Jon can help you achieve your goals.

Madeleine Novarina

Piano & Saxophone

Madeleine is a versatile and fluid performer, currently at the tail-end of her Bachelor of Music (Jazz Studies) at Monash University and majoring in saxophone performance. She has spent most of her life enjoying playing and studying music; and has performed on some of the most coveted stages in Melbourne- including Uptown Jazz Café, Bennett’s Lane, Howler, the Espy, Fitzroy Workers’ Club, Gasometer, the Toff and Gasometer.

As a child and teenager Madeleine diligently studied classical piano and undertook the AMEB exam syllabus, receiving an Honours in her Eighth Grade AMEB Piano exam. Alongside piano, she began her foray into the jazz world through saxophone at high school. She loved everything about the saxophone and improvisation. Today Madeleine is a sought-after band member for a wide range of ensembles within Melbourne’s thriving music scene.

Madeleine is an enigmatic and engaged music tutor; specialising in both piano and saxophone performance, as well as music theory. She especially enjoys working with students to find their own voice through music- whether that be through studying Bach, Beck, film scores, video game themes.. improvisation and/or composition! Madeleine will tailor a program of lessons to suit each individual and is adept at working with all ages and skill levels. Lessons will be both fun and challenging!

Daniel Napolitano


Daniel started learning guitar at the age of 4 and has perused a lifelong journey as a musician. For the past 14 years he has worked in various original and cover bands which have supported some of Australia’s iconic rock acts such as The Screaming Jets, The Angels, Noiseworks and Choirboys just to name a few. Daniel studied a Bachelor of Music Performance Jazz/Popular and has become a guitar teacher full time. Through this he has gained valuable experience educating students of all ages and experience levels. Daniel is dedicated to the education of music in a wide variety of topics and music styles.
